Merry Christmas

Wow, the month of December flew by us!! We had a very busy and exciting month. We went to the Snow Leopard Festival at the Santa Barbara Zoo, we took the kids to Disney on Ice at the Staples Center, we made lots of Christmas Crafts, we built ginger bread houses, we had our company Christmas PArty, kids had Christmas Party with friends, picked pout new ornaments (every year I take the kids to the mall to pick out a new ornament), decorated the tree, went looking at Christmas lights, and of course had a wonderful Christmas spent at home with family and friends. This was our month in a nutshell.

Santa’s little Elf

Santa’s little Elf

I’m not sure how many of you have heard of “Elf on a Shelf,” but we received our Elf last year from Santa. The kids named him Elfie. What happens is that every year, usually by the first of December, Santa sends out his elves to all the little boys and girls houses. Every day the elves watch the kids and then he / she flies back to the North Pole to report the children’s behaviors to Santa. This year “Elfie,” brought a girl elf too, for Emma. Emma decided to name her “Pretty.” This year our elves were kind of trouble makers, they toilet papered the bathroom, hung off of Christmas lights, wrote on our mirrors in our bathroom, had movie night with popcorn while we slept, hung out on our fans, slept in the kids beds, put underwear on the Christmas tree, moved the stockings, roasted marshmallows, took marshmallow baths in our sinks, and much more.  Owen asked Santa for three things this year, and one was to keep Elfie. Santa wrote Owen a letter and told him that he really needed Elfie back at the North Pole to help prepare for Christmas next year. But to our surprise, on Christmas morning, there was Elfie and Pretty with a note saying that Santa is letting them stay a little longer! The kids were so happy to spend Christmas Day with their elves.

What the kids are thankful for

What we are thankful for

The kids told me everyday, until Thanksgiving what they were thankful for. Owen wrote his down on paper while Emma verbally told me. I think that its good for the kids to think about what they have and to tell us what they are grateful for. Of course Thanksgiving is always a good time to do this but I do try to talk about this throughout the entire year.

Some of Emma’s List: God, I love daddy, I am thankful for mommy, My barbies, Roxy and Cota, mama and papa, JerJer, Rawraw, I am thankful for everybody
