The kids and I made mini pumpkin pies yesterday (pumpkin from a can). They did pretty much everything for themselves.

Pumpkin Carving

This year Owen was able to carve his own pumpkin using the "pumpkin safe knives." Emma is has to paint the pumpkins and tell us what she wants her's to look like. Here are some pictures from our carving day.

Its very serious work

Ok, so I know Emma has a weird sense of humor. Looking through a book full of pumpkins, she chose the one that the pumpkin is throwing up!

So proud of her throwing up pumpkin

Halloween Festivities

Halloween Festivities

Wow what a busy and fun Halloween we had! Tony and I took the kids to Faulkner Farms to pick pumpkins, my mom and I took the kids to Boccolis Pumpkin Patch with Emma’s School, we had a Halloween Party at our house with 18 kids, we went to Boo at the Zoo at the Santa Barbara Zoo, and of course went trick or treating! We even missed two events that we had planned on attending!! Busy busy but lots of fun!

Since Owen is being homeschooled, I suggested to him that maybe we can get a few of the others families that homeschool together and do a Halloween craft and maybe make Halloween cookies, well that simple little idea turned into 18 kids and pizza. Not quite what I had in mind, but Emma summed it up well for us, “Mommy, this is a fun party.” Pizza, crafts, costumes, and cookies!!

I think that this is the third year that we have attended Boo at the Zoo at the Santa Barbara Zoo. It’s a really fun event. The kids are able to dress up in their costumes and there are community organizations that hand out candy. There are also games that the kids can play and they get poker chips that they are able to turn in for prizes at the end of the night. You don’t really see animals but the kids have a great time. The staffs at the zoo get into costumes and there is a different theme every year. This year they had a haunted graveyard, last year they had a pirate ship.

We usually go trick or treating over by the Barbara St track since we don’t have many streetlights or sidewalks by our house. This year there were way less kids in that neighborhood so we split it up a little. The other neighborhood we went to had a lot of kids. All in all , the kids made out and filled their bags with lots of candy.
