Emma's First Mild Consussion

A few weeks ago (September 22nd) the kids were playing in the dirt and water in our upper yard. Emma fell on the concrete and hit the side of her head pretty hard. She was able to walk and was crying so we took this as a good sign. She didn’t really want to eat and was real fussy. She fell asleep about an hour after her fall for a few hours. When she woke up, she was about the same. She wasn’t really interested in eating but had a few drinks of chocolate milk and was still fussy. Shortly after that she began to vomit, so off to the ER on a Saturday night we go. Tony was in Ojai helping out for a funeral the next day so he just met us at the hospital. Surprisingly, the ER was empty and they took us right in. They checked Emma’s vitals and wanted us to stay for an hour to make sure she was ok. After an hour, they said that she suffered from a mild concussion – not fun!! And that we would have to make sure that she did not hit her head for a week. For those that know Emma- that was interesting, but we did it!! Here are some pictures from her visit to the ER, not her first an I have a strong feeling not her last!

Not a happy lithe girl

Trying to get her to smile but she was so upset to be at the hospital

Starting to feel better

Right before they told us we could go home - much more like Emma

She had to make sure that there were two stickers so that Owen could have one

Taking pictures of our room to try and get her mind of f of everything
